Chromatic Wednesdays is a monthly interdisciplinary event series based in Berlin, organized by visual artist and filmmaker Emre Birişmen and sound artist Melih Sarıgöl. The series brings together various artistic practices, including performance, sound, moving image, and panel discussions, in thematically structured programs at different venues across the city. 

Chromatic Wednesdays, which previously centered around the Apartment Project space in Neukölln, will transition to a mobile and decentralized structure for its upcoming fourth and fifth seasons. This shift aims to encourage stronger collaborations, emphasize site-specific thinking, and build new connections that reflect the social and cultural fabric of Berlin.

 TROUBLED RELATIONS
Exhibition by İrem Sözen and Selen Solak and  artist talk,
moderated by Erden Kosova
Under the theme «Recurrence» İrem Sözen and Selen Solak explored the repetition and similarity of patterns that occur in the natural environment. In the collaborative work, they highlighted the way in which they emerge in our daily lives that are otherwise rather unseen. Using visual language they examined the patterns of networks and relations, reflecting on environment, material and technology. Through images of animals in zoos, plastic animal toys and examples of scientific research on display technologies, they considered the troubles of the gaze framing the images.

İrem Sözen (b. 1984, Istanbul) is an artist and lecturer in architecture. She works with images, appreciating their intricate connection to senses, memory and perception. She considers photography as a language that comes close to primitive forms of communication and thus precedes words. In her current photo project, she is concerned with the perception of non-human subjects, especially animals and plants. She is based in Istanbul and has been in Berlin since January 2022, as part of the artist exchange program by nGbK, Berlin and Depo, Istanbul.

Selen Solak (b. 1987, Kirklareli, Turkey) is an artist and researcher living and working in Berlin. In her artistic practice, she engages in photography, video, and printmaking, seeking visual expressions for various themes and connections that emerge from her research. In her academic work, she explores material and energy devices, and in particular cables that connect and disconnect light. She has recently begun work on a collaborative zine series about the politics of materials and technologies.
