Chromatic Wednesdays is a monthly interdisciplinary event series based in Berlin, organized by visual artist and filmmaker Emre Birişmen and sound artist Melih Sarıgöl. The series brings together various artistic practices, including performance, sound, moving image, and panel discussions, in thematically structured programs at different venues across the city.

Chromatic Wednesdays, which previously centered around the Apartment Project space in Neukölln, will transition to a mobile and decentralized structure for its upcoming fourth and fifth seasons. This shift aims to encourage stronger collaborations, emphasize site-specific thinking, and build new connections that reflect the social and cultural fabric of Berlin.

Performance by Dan Su (a.k.a. su dance110)
Performance by Dan Su and William “Bilwa” Costa

As part of the last edition of Chromatic Wednesdays in 2022, su dance110 reflected on their sound practice in a solo performance. They engaged metal objects in corporeal movements and voice, combining analog synthesizers and electronics, poetically and wildly navigating in between worlds of perception.

Afterwards, su dance110 and William “Bilwa” Costa presented their collaborative music project «3:33:08». Equally similar and dissimilar in their artistic practices, the duo finds points of convergence in their collaboration rooted in hip-hop, dub, noise, broken breaks, as well as electronic and experimental music. The musicians invert each other’s beats, bass lines, recurring motifs, and looped sound fragments. In doing so, they approach and move away from synchronization with vocals that are simultaneously languid and dry, as well as sensual and haunting.

Dan Su (a.k.a. su dance110) is a transdisciplinary artist who works with sound and movement through experiments, compositions, improvisations, conceptual frameworks, performances, installations, experimental contemporary music, dance, and media art. Centered around the interplay of ontology, cybernetics, psychology, and methodology, their work attempts to evoke the fifth ghostly dimension and to create new experiences in unimaginable landscapes.

William “Bilwa” Costa is a conceptual artist who works with performance, sound, and visual arts. His performances, installations, and his experimental electro-acoustic music draw on sound art, un/natural field recordings, graphic and conceptual scores, as well as structures for sound and movement.
