Chromatic Wednesdays is a monthly interdisciplinary event series based in Berlin, organized by visual artist and filmmaker Emre Birişmen and sound artist Melih Sarıgöl. The series brings together various artistic practices, including performance, sound, moving image, and panel discussions, in thematically structured programs at different venues across the city.

Chromatic Wednesdays, which previously centered around the Apartment Project space in Neukölln, will transition to a mobile and decentralized structure for its upcoming fourth and fifth seasons. This shift aims to encourage stronger collaborations, emphasize site-specific thinking, and build new connections that reflect the social and cultural fabric of Berlin.

19:00 - Doors open
19:20 - Live Performance by Mei Yuxin (Temple Rat)
20:00 - Live Performance by Merma Suelo
20:45 - Live Stand-Up Sets by Justin Small, Palma Palacios & Pavlo Voyt hosted by Gözde Güngör

The first episode under the theme Healing will open with a live solo act by Temple Rat on erhu and electronics. Having roots as a classically trained musician she will present a set that fuses tradition with forward-thinking electronic production. Her set will focus more on listening , on how sound relates to our environment, ecology, and the presence of field recordings. Temple Rat is interested in creating temporary spaces where vulnerability and contradiction can coexist, where healing might emerge, even if incompletely through sound.

Merma Suelo , a polyfaceted poet, researcher, performer, and sound artist based in Berlin will perform parts of her latest album Siento (L-KW) mixed with some other elements. Siento is a decomposed composition of experiences, experiments, sounds, feelings, and questions. It emerges from relational triggers and sensations, where one is constantly reshaping.

The stand-up program curated by Gözde Güngör brings together three comedians, Justin Small, Palma Palacios and Pavlo Voyt, who will approach the theme of healing through humor - less as resolution, more as something unstable, interrupted, and at times contradictory. The sets will move through personal and collective experiences of pain, recovery, and resilience, using comedy to expose the awkwardness, resistance, and unfinished nature of these processes

“Healing”: the process to achieve physical, mental, emotional, social wholeness after calamity. The theme asks where we stand within this process, whether healing is something we desire at all, and what it means to seek it under conditions that continue to wound.

The two musical performances will question the possibility of healing and express that the act of searching may block the process even more. The stand-up program approaches the theme of healing through humor - less as resolution, more as something unstable, interrupted. Rather than offering comfort or closure, the performances lean into friction: where vulnerability meets irony, and where healing is questioned, stretched, or momentarily undone. Can healing actually take place, or is the wound repeatedly scratched open?

ARTIST BIOS

Temple Rat is a Berlin-based composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose sound is defined by the seamless fusion of traditional Chinese instrumentation and forward-thinking electronic production. Drawing from her deep roots as a classically trained musician and her immersion in the Berlin underground, she has carved a unique space in the contemporary scene through cinematic performances at venues like Berghain, RSO and Macadam. Following her acclaimed EP Composition of Air on Siamese Twins Records, her latest release, Some Leaves Must Fall 聽其自然, arrives this March on Buttheads. Utilising field recordings and self-built sound design, Temple Rat transforms every set into a transportive, cross-cultural experience.

Merma Suelo is a polyfaceted poet, researcher, performer, and sound artist dancing and playing between layers to attend, dismantle and transform oppressive looping.

Gözde Güngör holds a BA degree in European Union Studies and another in Photography & Video  from Istanbul Bilgi University, and an MA degree from the Institute of Art in Context at the University of the Arts Berlin. With a thesis exploring humour and its effects on the human psyche, she brings a political & scientific approach to her craft.

Initially focused on photography, video and performance art, Güngör's artistic practice has evolved into stand-up comedy. Using comedy to tell stories and highlight the absurdities of the human condition, her work intertwines political edge with boundary-pushing humor, and a healthy dose of silliness.

She founded "Back to the Cave Comedy" in 2017 through which she produces and curates comedy events in her base city Berlin. Güngör’s works were exhibited in many international venues and platforms such as Ballhaus OST, Akademie der Künste Berlin, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Haus der Statistik and transmediale.

Justin Small (US), is a common face on the European comedy circuit, also performing in the US and around Southeast Asia. Audiences acknowledge him for his smooth and confident stage presence and comedic timing.

Having lived in the US, Europe, Latin America and Asia, Justin brings the audience a healthy bit of chaos that ultimately exposes our unity underneath. I think. Hopefully.

He dances on the edge of being socially conscious and personally flawed. His comedic style combines sharp wit with intellect, personality and attitude; all tied together with a straightforward delivery.

Classy, sassy, mostly just gassy. Palma Palacios is the loud high-energy latina your funny bone was missing. Master of deadpan, Palma’s storytelling combines thought provoking dark humor with everyday basic banter. She performs comedy in English and Spanish and in both languages tries to find the difference between having something to say and having to say something…funny.

Pavlo Voyt is a Berlin-based TV writer and comedian originally from Ukraine. Since 2017, he has performed stand-up comedy in English, bringing laughs to live audiences across Germany and Europe.
