Chromatic Wednesdays is a monthly interdisciplinary event series based in Berlin, organized by visual artist and filmmaker Emre Birişmen and sound artist Melih Sarıgöl. The series brings together various artistic practices, including performance, sound, moving image, and panel discussions, in thematically structured programs at different venues across the city.

Chromatic Wednesdays, which previously centered around the Apartment Project space in Neukölln, will transition to a mobile and decentralized structure for its upcoming fourth and fifth seasons. This shift aims to encourage stronger collaborations, emphasize site-specific thinking, and build new connections that reflect the social and cultural fabric of Berlin.

COLLECTIVE UTOPIAS

Panel discussion with Prince Emrah, Astan KA and the fem*ergy collective, followed by a music performance by Astan KA and the fem*ergy collective
To deepen the conversation on «Collectivity», Prince Emrah, Astan KA, and the fem*ergy collective discussed the transformative potential of collectives in Berlin at this Chromatic Wednesdays event. They considered the role of collectives as havens of mutual support, as safe spaces, and places for fostering shared creativity among marginalized people. Hosted by the fem*ergy collective, the panel discussion invited Prince Emrah, a multifacated artist and mother of the Queerberg Collective/House of Royals, and Astan Ka, an artistic performer from the Sonic Interventions collective, to share their personal experiences with collective activism in the creative field. The exchange highlighted dynamics within collectives and explored their challenges, benefits and impact on the Berlin cultural scene.

Prince Emrah (she/he) is a professional belly dancer, DJ, occasional drag queen, host of the Black & Brown Cabaret Show and the mother of Queerberg/House of Royals artist collective, which provides a space for BIPOC LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees.

Astan KA is an artistic performer, singer-rapper, actress, mover and event curator based in Berlin. She is the lead singer of the band Asphalt Djelis, a member of the Berlin based music collective Sonic Interventions, co-founder of Cult’Sup’, an afro-hybrid artistic cultural event, as well as a stylist and artistic director for the fashion cultural concept KASAPIO.

The fem*ergy collective is a community of values based in Berlin and Switzerland, founded in Berlin in 2021 by musicians Ay Wing, mari.ama and Johanna Amelie. The idea of sharing stages, organizational efforts and visibility led to the creation of a permanent collective to support each other with individual skills and networks. The fem*ergy collective focuses on the visibility of fem* and non-binary artists and welcomes all who respect the values of the collective. The artists of the fem*ergy collective create songs, events and community-oriented projects continuously initiating collaborations and expanding their network.
