Chromatic Wednesdays is a monthly interdisciplinary event series based in Berlin, organized by visual artist and filmmaker Emre Birişmen and sound artist Melih Sarıgöl. The series brings together various artistic practices, including performance, sound, moving image, and panel discussions, in thematically structured programs at different venues across the city.

Chromatic Wednesdays, which previously centered around the Apartment Project space in Neukölln, will transition to a mobile and decentralized structure for its upcoming fourth and fifth seasons. This shift aims to encourage stronger collaborations, emphasize site-specific thinking, and build new connections that reflect the social and cultural fabric of Berlin.

Curiosity drew us through Chromatic Wednesdays’ episode «Glaring Light», in which three films explored both terrestrial and planetary landscapes to glimpse the future in the present. Myth and poetic speculation pervaded the cinematic journeys that took us from arid dryness, light pollution, and insomnia to the political struggle for women’s rights.

Compelled by photographs from NASA’s expeditions depicting Mars’ topography, Lisa Tan highlights in «My Pictures of You» how the planet’s dry lake beds, undulating sand dunes, and horizon could be our own. Jessica Bardsley’s «Life Without Dreams» is set in the outer space of consciousness where extraterrestrial surfaces form the terrain for a reflection on 24/7 capitalism. In «Alturas», Roxana Reiss portrays Elisa Taboada who campaigns to be elected as the first councilwoman of her village in the vast Andean mountains of Peru.
